Bernie Sanders hexagrammen.001

INTRO

We would like to introduce a model to you. A model that – although new in it’s form – is deeply rooted in the ancient sciences of astrology and divination. Using a unique combination of Nine Star Ki-astrology and the I Ching it reveals the underlying energy patterns that are not only active in our personality and physical constitution, but also in the mysterious force of fate and destiny. By understanding the symbolism of the I Ching (The Book of Changes), combined with this model, we can start unraffling the cyclic flux or movement at the base of our reality. This constant flux is symbolized by the 64 hexagrams of the Book of Changes and how they emerge in time by following the cyclic patterns as expressed by Nine Star Ki. There are in total 81 of these patterns. And they all intermingle.

The model shows four hexagrams. The one at the bottom is called the Dao-hexagram, representing our life theme. The way we think and act. This hexagram ‘works’ very much like an archetype. It channels the psychic activity. The three other hexagrams are like facets of that activity, the way we react and present ourselves throughout the years and in different life areas. In this introduction we will mainly focus on the first hexagram, belonging to Bernie Sanders.

What kind of a man is he? And – for the divination part – will he be able to win the elections in November?

THE DAO OF BERNIE SANDERS

Bernie Sanders was born on September 8, 1941, which gives him a natal energy pattern that is symbolized by hexagram 23: Splitting Apart:

hexagram 23.001

The upper trigram, Mountain, is resting on the Earth, the lower trigram. The law of change and the law of equalization are operative here. People with this DAO-hexagram are strong-willed, independentent, stubborn and progressive. They always tend to seek something new and to give tremendous effort to accomplish their goals. And whenever confronted with diffuculty or facing a crisis, they can expand that one hundred percent effort that brings succes. This pattern makes that someone will become even stronger from his trials and hardships. Also Mahatma Gandhi was born with this natal energy pattern.

When we take a closer look at the Dao-hexagram, we see that Bernie is tender, nourishing and emotional on the inside —trigram Earth— and stubborn, dignified and strong-willed on the outside — trigram Mountain. Especially the IMAGE TEXT of hexagram 23, `Splitting Apart’, is striking:

“The mountain rests on the earth: the image of splitting apart. Thus those above can ensure their position only by giving generously to those below.”

In other words, Bernie feels that true leadership (‘those above’) can only rest on the broad foundation of the common people (‘those below’). A ruler must be “generous and benevolent, like the earth that caries all’. Only by giving – one could say, only by making things equal – a leader secures his position and makes it as solid as a mountain. I think this energy pattern beautifully reflects Bernie’s Political Program. Also the theme of the hexagram corresponds with Bernie’s speeches, his ideas and visions of how to make America ‘healthy’ again, because, basically, this hexagram deals with corruption and decay. It tries to defeat the negative powers that have slipt inside a system. However, fighting these powers directly can be very dangerous – they are incredibly strong.

The hexagram illuminates the words that Bernie recently gave in his speech: “Now let me tell you something that no other candidate for president will tell you. No matter who will be elected as president, that person will not be able to address the enormous problems facing the working families of our country. The power of cooperate America (the ‘inferior’ forces), the power of Wall Street, the power of campaign donors is so great  that no president alone can stand up to them – that is the truth!”

A real reformation must therefore be carried out by the entire population, the hexagram states, otherwise she is doomed to fail. Bernie`s intention probably is to set in a political movement that acts like a Fall wind, a wind that yanks off all dead, non viable branches, so real genuine innovation can take place. After all, only new branches carry the healthy fruits. But we are not there yet.

This political movement, that must arise from the people, will have to wait for a little while. The corrupt element is still in majority, symbolised by the 5 yin lines in ‘Splitting Apart’. And this surplus of yin squeezes all the good and honesty, symbolised by the upper yang line, out of it. “The power of the inferior people is growing,” is what Wilhelm states in this hexagram. “They are on the rise and stealthily begin their destructive burrowing from below in order to undermine the place where the superior man rests.” Because they are growing, no one can fight them directly. That would only increase the damage. Or, like Huang Ni Chi calls it: “Never compete with persons (or systems) of inferior virtue, because doing so gives them the opportunity to undermine you,” something Bernie undoubtedly has encountered in his life more than once. Then, the evil will have a firm seat and will put everything at work in order to maintain that power. But still, as soon as a foundation of a system has been harmed so severely that the rotten spots become visible for all to see – and especially feel – the tide will turn. That is inevitable. But the public itself (‘those below’) will have to realize this. The I Ching therefore speaks the following about what is going on in America at the moment (top line “Splitting Apart”):

“There is a large fruit still uneaten. The superior man receives a carriage. The house of the inferior man is split apart.”

Every fruit has fallen off the tree but one, wich represents one’s last chance, is what Huang Ni Chi writes. ‘If seeds are preserved when crops are bad and famine is present, a chance for survival still exists, but if instead people are self-indulgent they will lose their house by accepting the erosive and corrupting influence.’ Letting go of desires and securities is the only solution of the problemacy in this deterioration.

Like Prometheus who stole the light from Zeus, the highest authority, Bernie is a man who’s challenging the inferior forces that caused this deterioration. The future is looking very good for him. Luck is on his side. We can conclude this from 2 things, firstly, hexagram ‘Splitting Apart’ belongs to the ninth month (October-November), when the elections are. At that moment, the yin powers will reach their climax, the deterioration will be visible. This will show all what Bernie has proclaimed all along: that it would take a thorough revision of the foundation which America is built upon. The public will do one`s best for this revision. Bernie can count especially on the support of the younger women — attribute of trigram Fire.

Secondly, in that period Bernie his life cycle is positioned in hexagram 30, `Clinging, Fire`, in particular the second line, which states:

“Yellow light. Supreme good fortune.”

If Bernie remains humble, knows how to connect to the calling and the light that lives inside of him, he will definitely bind the public to him. In that period of time his energy and clarity will be endless. This is why the I Ching states the following for this hexagram: “Thus the great man, by perpetuating this brightness, illumines the four quarters of the world.”

Supreme good fortune, indeed!
